The follow-up to Ukrainian developer GSC Game World’s smash hit STALKERseries has stepped out into the light as part of the Xbox Extended Showcase as STALKER: Heart of Chornobyl.
The fourth entry into the speculative fiction shooter’s creative universe brings us back to The Zone for another round of radiation-fueled horror and an apparent rip in the space-time continuum.
The highly-anticipated sequel has been delayed until next year as GSC Game World operates out of Ukraine’s capital city of Kyiv, and many staff members and contractors involved in the game have spent the months involved in repelling a Russian occupation. However, the company recently announced that it’s opened a satellite campus in Prague, Czech Republic, to take over a majority of the production.
The staff working on the game released a developer diary that I really encourage everyone to watch. It shows how bad the war in Ukraine has become and many of the developers are forced to live in some rough conditions. Our hearts go out to the people of Ukraine suffering at the hands of Russian invaders.
Having the franchise exist as part of the Xbox ecosystem, so STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl will come exclusively to Xbox Series X|S and PC.
