Sony’s latest Business Segment Meeting gave us plenty of insight into how the company is doing regarding PlayStation VR2 sales, PlayStation Plus subscription figures, and software sales.
Looking at PlayStation Studios entering the PC market, two titles stand out – Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered launched on August 12, 2022, and has sold 1.5 million copies on PC. Looking at Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 1, the title launched on March 28, 2023, and has sold roughly 368,000 copies.
The Last of Us Part 1 launched in an abysmal state on PC and that reason is likely why sales haven’t taken off like Spider-Man has thanks to performance issues, bugs, and crashes. Naughty Dog has released several patches in the interim to make it far more stable on PC.
Additionally, there is little news about how Spider-Man: Miles Morales fared on PC, having launched on November 18, 2022. Even with sales being strong on PC, Jim Ryan says Sony is committed to focusing on the PlayStation 5.
