It was a pretty big month for game releases this past October. Even with all that competition, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 came up on top in swinging fashion, according to ESA Canada’s monthly top-selling games reveal on its now updated website. Once again, this endeavour was conducted in partnership with ESA Canada and marketing research firm Circana (formerly known as the NPD Group).
It’s not a definitive victory for the PlayStation exclusive as Super Mario Bros. Wonder claimed the number 3 spot. The sales numbers for the data only included physical buys. As always, Nintendo didn’t share how the game sold digitally in Canada; with how many copies Mario titles usually sell and the amount of Nintendo Switch consoles out in the wild compared to the PS5, it can only be speculated if Sony really won this round last month. Since we don’t, a hollow victory is a win nonetheless.
Alongside Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Super Mario Bros. Wonder, this month also saw three other October games crack the top ten, including NHL 24, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, and UFC 5, meaning half the games in the list were all released last month. The full list of the top 10 selling video games in Canada for November 2023 includes:
- Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (PS5)
- NHL 24 (PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One & Xbox Series X|S) – Canadian Developed

That’s it for this month’s look at Canada’s top-selling games, with Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 as October 2023’s leading title. Let’s find out if more than half of the games on this list maintain their spot in the top 10 next month or if any November release games takes that spot. We’ll have to find out when ESA Canada updates their list next month. Until then, see you next time!
