Sorry Everybody But Bowsette Is Bogus

To celebrate 2019, Nintendo wanted to go a different route and crush the hopes of many gamers – Bowsette is officially non-canon and it stings.

That’s right, with the upcoming release of New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, on the Nintendo Switch, the Super Crown power-up is only usable by Toadette, leaving any hope of seeing Bowsette gone. Back in September, Nintendo revealed the Wii U exclusive would see new life on the Nintendo Switch and featured new characters. Including the New Super Luigi expansion as well, both Nabbit and Toadette as playable characters, the Super Crown was revealed and featured Toadette turning into Peachette.

“When Toadette finds one of these [Super Crown items], she can transform into the super-powered Peachette,” the game’s official site confirms, via a screenshot on ResetEra. But only Toadette may wear the Super Crown, Nintendo confirms. This little tidbit debunks any chance of seeing Bowsette in any canon stories.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe launches on Jan. 11 on Nintendo Switch.
