Sony To Retire Accolades, A Launch PS5 Feature

A PlayStation 5 feature very few users even knew existed is being sunset, an official announcement from Sony has said.

“In fall of 2022, the Accolades feature on PlayStation 5 will no longer be supported,” reads the website. “The feature hasn’t seen the level of usage we anticipated, so we are refocusing our efforts. We encourage the community to continue to send positive messages to one another.”

The news comes via a PlayStation support page. “The feature hasn’t seen the level of usage we anticipated, so we are refocusing our efforts,” Sony says. “We encourage the community to continue to send positive messages to one another.”

I remember reading about Accolades around launch but quickly forgot about the system. Essentially, you help the community by rewarding those who played fairly, were positive, helpful, welcoming, and more. The user being commended would then be talled and shown on their profile. Sadly, it never caught on but it was a nice idea that unfortunately has been shut down too soon.

There is the PlayStatation Stars program launching in the future that will reward players on PlayStation, however, so it might be included as part of that.
