With everyone around the world currently quarantined at home as the COVID-19 pandemic sweeps the whole world, rightfully many of us are bored. It’s hard to stay cooped up all day in your home and it’s even harder to fill each hour with something to do if you aren’t working at the moment.
To soften the blow of staying at home, Sony is launching the Play At Home initiative that offers two free games to keep to those at home but also a chance offer to an indie studio who is suffering financial difficulties at the moment.
Both Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception) and Journey will be free and available to download. You’ll be able to download them from April 15 at 11:00 PM EDT until May 5 at 11:00 PM EDT. Don’t forget that April’s PlayStation Plus games include Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and DiRT Rally 2.0.
As for supporting indie developers, this post on the PlayStation Blog written by CEO Jim Ryan says that Sony Interactive has earmarked $10 million dollars to support indie developers, who “are vital to the heart and soul of the gaming community.”
