Sonic The Hedgehog is Sprinting His Way to Minecraft as DLC

With it being the 30th anniversary, Sega has been making big moves with Sonic the Hedgehog lately including announcements like a new game coming in 2022, Sonic Colors: Ultimate and now the chilli-dog-loving hedgehog is coming to Minecraft as DLC.

If you’re just expecting a Sonic the Hedgehog skin or a texture pack in the DLC release, well you’re getting a lot more as Minecraft developer, Mojang went all-in on the hedgehog. The Sonic the Hedgehog DLC actually turns Minecraft into an endless runner which features a cast of characters like Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Shadow the Hedgehog, and even Chao.

The Sonic expansion into Minecraft is big enough of a deal to get a one-minute trailer that doesn’t just show off the character in the DLC pack but the stages. Those stages include the iconic Green Hill Zone but other zones like Chemical Plant and Sky Sanctuary. The DLC also allows you to take on enemies from the Sonic series throughout the stages plus you can also collect rings through the stages too.

The developer says that Sonic will be a focus of the game during a two-week server-hub takeover with exact details coming later. The DLC is sounding like a pretty good Sonic game to dive into, which has been lacking a little in recent memory. If you want to get into it the Sonic x Minecraft DLC is currently purchasable on the Minecraft marketplace starting today.
