Sonic Origins Plus Announced, Adds 12 Game Gear Games to Base Collection

After one year since Sonic Origins‘ release, the compilation anthology release is getting more games as Sega has announced Sonic Origins Plus, an expanded edition of Sonic Origins which is set to add 12 Sonic franchise Game Gear titles in addition to last year’s bundle of Sonic‘s Sega Genesis/CD iconic games.

Sonic‘s Game Gear titles will be playable through emulation through Sonic Origins‘ Museum feature, as for the base titles well those games are getting some extra goodies as Amy Rose will be officially playable in all four games with Sega adding some “& Knuckles” to Sonic CD as a playable character too. Additionally, Sonic Origins Plus comes with “previously released add-on content: Extreme Missions, Mirror Mode, additional letterbox backgrounds, new character animations in menus, additional music from other Sonic titles, and more.

Anyone who did end up picking up Sonic Origins last year won’t be left out as players can upgrade to the 2023 edition by purchasing the $9.99 USD “Expansion Pack” fee in the digital storefront of the platform you got your game to get access to the 12 Game Gear Games and new playable characters. Sonic Origins Plus is set to launch on June 23rd for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, X|S & Nintendo Switch consoles.
