Sonic Mania was set for release this spring and the retro platformer will now see a release window sometime in the summer, we learned today as Sega announced the delay with some new footage of a new area called Flying Battery Zone.
Sega also provided statement about the delay from Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka:
“For SEGA, quality is most important. We stated this last year, and we are committed to doing whatever it takes to make Sonic games the highest quality possible. Though we like to go fast, sometimes, for a great game, you must also wait.”
The clip is short but the message comes across loud and clear: this looks good.
