The Super Smash Bros. mod gets even better

The mod scene is incredible. Groups of people getting together to create a unique spin on an older game or adding content to a title that gives it new life is commonplace nowadays, and I am here for it! The most recent addition to the N64 classic Super Smash Bros. is an impressive roster expansion that includes some iconic Nintendo, Sony, and Sega fighters. The add-on was created by fans to expand what Smash Remix already has to offer. The trailer alone shows off some great use of the engine and N64’s capabilities.

Smash Remix is Now Bigger and Better

I had a chance to play Smash Remix for Remember 64 and speak to one of its key contributors when it hit 1.0 a couple of years ago. You can check out that chat and episode out here. Seeing what’s been added has me very excited to jump back in.

In this new content, you can play as Birdo, Snake, Knuckles, Ryu and Ken, Mr. Game & Watch, Spider-Man, and more. It’s seriously impressive what has been created here. The roster throughout the years of Super Smash Bros. has expanded quite a bit. But here, you’ll get to play the classic game on original hardware, with fan-favourite characters from a wide array of franchises.

The creators note that this is not an official Smash Remix update, but one made by fans of the original mod released a couple of years ago.

You can head to GitHub for the download and all the information on how to play it.
