At my best, I consumed a ton of Beyblade content as a child. Between the anime and the school yard, where I spent my 15 minutes battling it out against classmates, pretending I was Tyson from the TV show. Even now, though I’ve retired professionally, I’ve yearned for a comeback. And Slayblade, from Henry’s House, Oscar Brittain might be how I do that.
Slayblade is a Beylade-coded roguelike where you can build, battle, and even bet “your lunch money” on your Slayblade. The Steam description says there are over 60 parts to collect, you can explore a miniature PS1-styled city, break the law, and even save the city from “a rich loser”.
In short, this game sounds like a cord-rippin’ good time. There are colourful lo-fi visuals, customization with the developer promising satisfying battles with intuitive gameplay mechanics, with keyboard and mouse support. There’s no real story mode, though, so don’t expect much on that front.
Don’t wait, check out the Slayblade demo on Steam.
