He’s big, he’s mean, and he’s starting his journey as the ultimate King in Skull Island: Rise of Kong. It’s a new 3rd person action game from IguanaBee Studios and published by GameMill Entertainment. The game sadly was leaked, or a post was published a little too soon, revealing the game earlier this week. Regardless, that doesn’t take away from some of the action we’ve now seen.
The short trailer below gives us some quick glimpses of gameplay and who or what Kong will be battling in the game.
Skull Island: Rise of Kong puts you in control of Kong himself, ready for revenge and smashing anything in his path. That includes dinosaurs, giant crabs, and sandworm-looking beasts. The action adventure genre in chalk full of options, but running around and leaping huge distances as Kong looks like it could be pretty damn fun.
Looking at IguanaBee Studios and their past games, they’ve had some experience working on some 3rd person action titles like GI Joe Operation Blackout and a kids baseball game in Little League World Series. Smaller games to be sure, but the press release shows some promise stating: “Deal devastating combos to dominate Gaw’s ferocious minions, and unleash your rage to heighten the impact of your attacks.”
Skull Island: Rise of Kong is available to pre-order as of today, but if you’re looking to grab the special edition called Colossal Edition, the team has added some unique bonuses. Along with skins for Kong and some behind-the-scenes content it, “This edition includes eight exclusive film grains featuring the ability to experience a red-tinted rage mode and the original look of the classic 1933 and 1970s-era King Kong films.”
Skull Island Rise of Kong releases this fall for consoles and on Steam for PC.
