Silent Hill: Ascension Releases Premiere Trailer, Weekly Episodes Launching On Sony Pictures Core App On PS4 and PS5

Releasing alongside on Bravia TVs and select Xperia smartphones as part of Sony partnership

Almost a year ago, Konami revealed it has a lot of Silent Hill projects in the works, many of which we don’t have specific dates on. Except for one now spookily coming later this month, I’m referring to the franchise’s first interactive streaming series, Silent Hill: Ascension, which launched its premiere trailer and Halloween release date reveal alongside additional details.

In partnership with Sony Pictures. the Gevid-produced series will be a desktop and mobile experience that you can watch after the real-time decisions have also been made on Sony consoles. The series will launch as weekly packaged episodes dropping on the new Sony Pictures Core app on PS4 and PS5 consoles. At the same time, these episodes will also launch on the Bravia Core app for Bravia TVs and Bravia Core for Xperia app on select Xperia smartphones.

“We are exploring all new territory with Silent Hill: Ascension. Through this unique venture with Genvid, we are excited to offer viewers on Sony devices a weekly catch-up on the action of Silent Hill: Ascension with full episodes of compiled scenes from this innovative, interactive series,” Sony Pictures Entertainment New Media Distribution senior vice president Pete Wood said in a press release.

The upcoming series will put the power of choice of the series’s protagonists in the hands of the viewers, with decisions popping up in real-time on desktop and mobile devices to steer the canonical story in the direction wherever the audience wants to take it. The series will begin on October 31st at 9 PM. ET through interactive scenes with new ones dropping simultaneously – a week of scenes will launch later as episodes on Sony Platforms – this is expected to go on for the next six months, says the creator.

“We’re excited to introduce the Johansen and Hernandez families into the Silent Hill universe. As they delve deeper into their horrors, and their towns are simultaneously consumed by mass hysteria, these two families will uncover strange connections between them despite being a world apart,” Genvid interactive series creator and chief creative officer Stephan Bugaj said in a press release.

The upcoming Silent Hill series looks to be a new and bold approach by putting the fate of characters in the scripted series and putting the audience at the wheel; we’ll see for better or worse. Silent Hill: Ascension will kick off this Halloween on October 31st at 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT on desktop browsers, the iOS App Store, and the Google Play Store.
