To celebrate Earth Day, Shaw is kicking off their new event, Tree Spree, a new initiative with hopes of planting tons of real trees with the help of gamers. Shaw knows we’re all stuck inside so our ability to do much is limited, but they’ve found a way to get everyone involved and help out the environment.
The Tree Spree Challenge asks three things of you and it will take as long as you want with as much or as little investment stemming from how much time you want to sink in.
Earlier this month, Shaw asked three streamers including Andrew Curtis, Marcel Dee, Kate Stark on Twitch and had them plant as many trees in their favourite game and show it off. Some suggestions to participate include Minecraft, Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
We’re challenging pro gamers on Twitch to plant as many trees in-game as they can, and we’ll match them in the real world, tree for tree! Tune into #ShawTreeSpree to cheer them on. pic.twitter.com/GDZbxDJVG4

To get involved, all you need to do is plant a tree in your favourite game, screenshot it and then post it to social media with the hashtag #ShawTreeSpree for it to count. For every post, Shaw will plant a real tree to match each post. Kind of neat, right?
