Have you noticed all the prettiest games have built-in photo modes this generation? I have, and it’s become a hobby of mine to spend time finding the best angles, filters and set pieces to create memories of my time in various titles. Most recently, I’ve spent hours in Assassin’ Creed Origins exploring all of Egypt to find those perfect moments to capture and share.
On the PlayStation Blog, Art Director at Bluepoint Games, Mark Skelton, has revealed that the upcoming remake for Shadow of the Colossus will have its own photo mode, so you can capture the wonders of the desolate world as you engage the various Colossi and return the princess to life.
The thing that makes Photo Mode stand out is its power and flexibility. It’s an entire photo adjustment suite built into the game for you! Everything that I had access to as the Art Director, you have access to as the player. You can start with a filter and adjust all the way down to color balancing the shadows, midtones and highlights. Then on top of that, control the depth of field ranges and amounts, in addition to the vignette. That’s an amazing amount of control.
Being in charge of such a crucial part of any game, this is exciting that Mark has taken the time to provide proper tools to bask in the beauty of this game.
