Look, it’s a tough world out there for most of us, especially indie game developers! And though they are operating independently of big oversight, they aren’t anti-social — they get by with a little help from some friends. So, Radical Fish Games (CrossCode, Alabaster Dawn) is teaming up with Little Legendary, who are currently Kickstarting their new 2D metroidvania game, Shade Protocol.
A new crossover trailer shows Lea from CrossCode and Juno from Alabaster Dawn join Shade Protocol‘s Zura, a young heroine inheriting a broken legacy, as she fights to protect what remains of humanity in a world transformed by the SHADE virus.
We don’t fully know what this collaboration will mean for future gameplay, but we do know that Shirakumo Nagi, the original composer of CrossCode and Alabaster Dawn, lent the pump-up track for the teaser trailer above. And the Shade Protocol team hope to have more of his music as part of the Kickstarter goals.
“CrossCode and Alabaster Dawn represent so much of what we love about indie games: depth, charm, mechanical creativity, and a clear artistic identity,” said Kendall Quinones, game director at Little Legendary. “To have Shade Protocol connected to those worlds in any way is incredibly meaningful for us. We are huge fans of Radical Fish Games, and we cannot wait for players to see what we have been working on together.”
Currently, we have no clue when the two studios will deem us worthy of more news, so stay with us, and/or follow Little Legendary — whose Kickstarter opens June 4, 2026!
