Sega is hard at work getting upcoming Sonic Mania Plus ready for release later this month. The game, which released last year to unanimous acclaim from fans and critics, is getting a second life with an upgraded edition.
The video features Kazuyuki Hoshino (Sonic Team Creative Director) & Tom Fry (Sonic Mania Plus Art Director) speaking about the additions we can expect at launch as well as some backstory on how Sonic Mania Plus came to be.
Coming off the success of Sonic Mania, the upgraded version includes two new characters, including Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel, and an Encore mode that will provide a fresh look to familiar zones with new challenges and layouts for new and veteran players alike. Competition and Time Attack modes will receive an update allowing four player competitions, and ghost challenges for time trials.
Sonic Mania Plus will launch on July 17 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC for roughly $40 CAD or $6 CAD for those who purchased the game last year and want to purchase the upgrade.
