Sega and JAKKS Pacific Announce New Global Agreement For Sonic the Hedgehog 3

In what I still consider one of the most absolute video game media shocks of the past few years, Sega’s Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 have been some of the best video game adaptations made in cinema.

It isn’t surprising that a third movie is well into production, set to release on December 20, 2024.

Based on the success of their merchandise partnership on the second film, Sega and JAKKS Pacific will continue to collaborate on a line for the upcoming movie.

The new agreement will span multiple years of production and feature action figures, plushies, and playsets from the company’s toy division and costumes and costume accessories from its Disguise costume division.

The first of these toys and costumes are expected to be released in the latter part of 2024, closer to the movie’s December release, and running in just in time for the blur-inducing Holiday season.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 promises to be an exciting addition, with the Blue Blur embarking on his next thrilling journey. The Sonic movie product has been a resounding success among retail, audiences, kids, and the enthusiastic collector community,” expresses Kevin Feely, vice president of marketing at JAKKS Pacific, Inc. “We eagerly anticipate the return of Sonic and his beloved companions and look forward to bringing them back in a big way in 2024.”

“JAKKS Pacific has consistently delivered innovative, top-quality merchandise for the Sonic the Hedgehog brand,” says Michael Cisneros, associate director of licensing at Sega of America. “This is our third toy partnership with JAKKS for the Sonic movie franchise, and Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will be the best yet. We cannot wait to share the incredible line of toys and costumes to complement the film’s release.”
