Sabotage Studio’s Sea of Stars is launching on PlayStation Plus Game Catalog for PlayStation Extra and Premium subscribers. At launch, the prequel to The Messenger will be available on Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus.
“We’re extremely excited to confirm that Sea of Stars will join the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog catalogue (available for all Extra and Premium members) on launch day, August 29. It’s incredible for us to imagine how many more players worldwide will experience Sea of Stars and join the conversation around our project.
After working on this game that is so dear to us for five years, we’re now only a few weeks away from release, and we’re happy to share this moment with the PlayStation community,” said Philippe Dionne, Level Designer at Sabotage Studio.
Sea of Stars’ compelling world unites players with Valere and Zale, youths fated to become Solstice Warriors. Combining their Sun and Moon powers to perform Eclipse Magic, they are pledged to fight the monstrous creations of the evil alchemist, The Fleshmancer.
A demo is available on PlayStation today for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Dionne says the demo is a slice of the final game but one that doesn’t reveal any spoilers and instead focuses on the traversal mechanics.
The developers moved away from tile-based movements to create a lighter and more seamless system for players to interact with the environments. “The broad strokes of traversal were approached to sustain a sense of tactileness to the surrounding environments, inviting players to touch everything they see and for the game to acknowledge their actions,” continued Dionne. Essentially, if the environment looks like it can be interacted with, it can.
Sea of Stars will be available on PS4 and PS5 on August 29. It also comes with Xbox Game Pass.
