Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that Scribblenauts Showdown, the next installment in the popular franchise, is coming and sooner than you’d think. The new game will expand upon the creativity in the previous games by introducing two brand new party game modes that can be played with up to four players.
“Scribblenauts Showdown delivers imaginative fun and the humor that Scribblenauts fans love with new social elements to challenge friends and family,” said Steven Chiang, Executive Vice President, Production, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Players of all skill levels will enjoy testing their creativity in the fast-paced, head-to-head party style gameplay.”
The first new game mode, Showdown mode, consists of 1-4 players facing off in card-based strategy and creative skill. You must outsmart your opponents by drawing upon the game’s 35,000+ word dictionary and unleashing the best character or object you can. Progress is shown on a boardgame style map with mini-games that reward the player who completes a given challenge first.
Versus mode is the second new game mode added to Scribblenauts Showdown. In Versus, two players go head-to-head in over 25 different mini-games that change-up in each session. The mini-games can also be experienced in single player.
Sandbox mode is returning as a cherished staple in the Scribblenauts series. This mode allows one or two players to take on eight new levels and solve objectives by pulling objects from their imagination into the game and earning hidden starites and achievements.
Scribblenauts Showdown is set to debut on March 6th, 2018 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
