Samurai Shodown Coming To Consoles Next Month

Samurai Shodown is just over a month away from release as the reboot prequel arrives on June 25 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. SNK released a new video called Samurai Shodown 101. Both Switch and PC ports are currently in development, with a release sometime later this year.

SNK announced today that whoever purchases Samurai Shodown beween June 25 and June 30 receives the SeasonPass for free. This applies to both physical and digital purchases.

Koichi Toyama, President at SNK confirmed the news in a press release. “As a thank you to the fans who have stuck with us during the long wait between the franchise installments, we’re pleased to offer the first 6 months of DLC completely free of charge to anyone who buys the game and redeems the game’s season pass within the first week of release, which will include four new fighters.”

With four modes including Story Mode, Training Mode, Online Play and Dojo Mode, running out of things to do won’t be an issue. Dojo Mode is an all-new feature where players upload and download ghost data of other players. This effectively keeps things fresh since you’re able to take on any type of player and learn from each of them.

All in all, I’m thoroughly enjoying the way Samurai Shodown is smoothly moving towards release. With a satisfying offer for the Season Pass and colourful and exciting combat, this is looking more and more like the decade-plus wait is worth it.
