Rocksteady Studios Co-Founders Depart After Nearly Three Decades

Co-founders Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker are leaving Rocksteady Studios at the end of 2022. The pair cite the reason is so that they can begin a “new adventure in gaming”.

In a blog post, Rocksteady reveals the Batman Arkham co-creators have resigned and will be leaving at the end of the year. The post goes on to say that Rocksteady is “very well positioned with veteran studio leadership being elevated to oversee the team.” Stepping in are Nathan Burlow, longtime Rocksteady Director of Production and original founding member of the studio, who will step up into the role of Studio Director and Darius Sadeghian will take the reigns as Studio Product Director.

Both Nathan and Darius are currently part of the team working on Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a title set to launch next year.

Hill and Walker left a message regarding their departure and it cannot be stressed enough that what Rocksteady has done for games in the last decade has echoed into today’s design.

“Our decision to leave Rocksteady was emotional to say the least! From the day we founded the company in 2004 all the way to today, Rocksteady has been our life and soul. It has given us the opportunity to do what we love most: make great games with exceptionally talented people. We are so proud of the team here for the games we have all made together, from our first game Urban Chaos to the much-loved Arkham series, and now the epic Suicide Squad.”

Fans looking for more of the Batman Arkham universe will find solace in knowing that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set in the same universe.
