Rhapsody in Scarlet, a brand new Konami RPG, was revealed at today’s PlayStation State of Play.
The new game looks amazing, focusing on a young magus named Ellie Myers, blasting out plenty of massive magic attacks against huge, fearsome foes. The jazzy soundtrack sounded great as Ellie took down foe after foe, with some awesome chase scenes and cinematics.
“While the city revelled in its glamour, an unseen conflict simmered among those who practiced magick in secret. Arriving in New York to pursue a career as a jazz singer, the young magus Ellie soon finds herself caught in an unexpected incident.
The encounter leads her to Ilya, leader of the Seekers, an elite organization of magi. Though the free-spirited Ellie and the serious-minded Ilya frequently clash, they gradually forge a strong bond as they investigate the schemes of a mysterious mafia organization.
Their investigation draws them ever deeper into the city’s secrets, revealing a fateful battle that threatens the very balance of the world. An epic tale unfolds where beasts, magick, friendship, and destiny intertwine,” the Rhapsody in Scarlet description reads.
You play as Ellie Meyers (voiced by Cherami Leigh/Akari Kito), who travels to New York to pursue a career as a Jazz singer. She fights alongside her beast, Sköll, and uses the power of beasts and magic to fight. Ellie believes in freedom and fights against rules and authority.
Ilya Jones (voiced by Hannah Grace/Saori Onishi), the leader of the Seekers, a magus organization. Ilya was raised by Harold, her father and head of Sorcellerie Quarter. She shows talent and possesses remarkable skills and a sense of responsibility.
Konami says it has worked hard to recreate the 1920 New York atmosphere, including the architecture and fashion, cars, and Prohibition-era speakeasies. Rhapsody in Scarlet features a period of growth in energy and change, with the spread of automobiles, radio, and women in society. This led to research to gather historical references.
The game also includes fantastic elements like beasts and magic, creating a distinct world where magic and reality combine for something new.
No release window was given for Rhapsody in Scarlet, and it launches on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC.
