Sega and Yakuza / Like a Dragon developer, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has announced it is hosting an RGG Summit Summer 2023 showcase on June 16th, which viewers interested in the stream will be able to watch on YouTube.
As for what fans of the developer can expect, the RGG Summit Summer 2023 is set to feature more concrete dates and look at its upcoming Like a Dragon line-up including Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name and Like a Dragon 8 which were both announced back in September:
The Man Who Erased His Name is a side story that is set to release sometime this year and takes between Yakuza 6 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon where players are once inserted into the shoes of Kiryu, known by the code name of Joryu. Like a Dragon 8 is the followup to Ichiban’s first adventure and is set to release next year with Ichiban and a silver-foxed Kiryu as the game’s presumed dual protagonists.
In addition, looking at the announcement via translation the announcement also promotes that new titles will be revealed at the presentation. No specific details were revealed if these are new games in the Like a Dragon series or a brand new IP from the studio. I’d bet on the former as Yakuza or now Like a Dragon is now one of Sega’s most popular IPs amongst fans but seeing a new IP from the studio would be interesting. Guess we’ll have to tune in to find out what RGG Studio has in mind for the future at the RGG Summit.
