Capcom revealed new details today for next month’s Resident Evil Requiem during the Resident Evil Showcase.
In the 15-minute stream, Capcom offered an extended look at the upcoming ninth mainline entry in the long-running survival horror series, showcasing how Grace Ashcroft and Leon Kennedy’s sections vary.
Capcom confirmed that those returning to Raccoon City next month can start their adventure in either Casual mode, which uses aim assist, or Standard mode or Standard (Classic), offering a challenge with the inclusion of ink ribbons Grace must have on-hand to save progress.
Playing as Leon Kennedy will be more action-oriented given his experience in hand-to-hand combat and firearms. He’s investigating suspicious deaths, which means he’ll need to bust some skulls with his new hatchet, which he uses to parry attacks, and follow that up with finishers to stop the enemy.
Playing as Grace Ashcroft will be more survival-oriented as she explores a sanatorium filled with zombies. She’ll need to be cautious as she weaves through halls, rooms, and basements and worry about limited resources and carrying capacity, forcing you as the player to fight or run. Acquiring a special device allows Grace to craft vital items using infected blood obtained by killing zombies. She also has a gun called Requiem to help her get out of tight spots when needed.
We also ended the showcase with Elpis, a supposed keyword fans will need to pay attention to as it connects everything from the death of Grace’s mother to Grace’s past, and the story connecting to Leon.
