After six movies, the Resident Evil films will be rebooted and serve as a more faithful adaption of the original material. While Paul W.S. Anderson has previously served as the director on the Resident Evil films, today, Capcom and Constantin Film revealed Johannes Roberts would helm the reboot.
In addition, Capcom has announced the new cast which include some interesting casting choices. The new cast includes Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopperas Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy, and Neal McDonough as William Birkin.

The reboot will serve as an origin story. “With this movie, I really wanted to go back to the original first two games and re-create the terrifying visceral experience I had when I first played them whilst at the same time telling a grounded human story about a small dying American town that feels both relatable and relevant to today’s audiences,” said Johannes Roberts in a press release.
