Remedy Entertainment’s upcoming Control Resonant is set to launch later this year and will include New Game Plus content.
In a new PlayStation Blog post, Segey Mohov, the Lead Gameplay Designer on the project, spoke about what to expect.
New Game Plus restarts the campaign while carrying over “as much of what you’ve already earned.” This includes Aberrant upgrades, health, and combat ability resource improvements, unlocked supernatural combat abilities, talents, and artifacts into the next run. You lose out on traversal abilities since those are tied to story progression.
“One of the goals for New Game Plus is to give players more room to experiment with builds that weren’t possible during the first playthrough, as you cannot unlock everything in your arsenal in one go,” Mohov says.

Progressing through Control Resonant means you unlock new talent nodes, expanding how abilities and Aberrant attacks work in combat. You can also equip multiple combat abilities from the same boss to open up new combinations, which change how you play.
Artifacts are equippable items with passive modifiers which allow you to fine-tune your build. They affect survivability, combat performance, exploration, or resources, but at a cost. “Rather than being purely additive, they encourage you to tailor your setup for specific situations,” reveals Mohov.
You can equip up to three artifacts during your first playthrough. In New Game Plus, a fourth slot unlocks for new combinations.
Artifacts are also tied to crafting. You can discover untapped Artifacts in the world, which can be crafted into artifacts in the Gap.
Mohov touches upon using Manhattan as the setting and how it will affect gameplay in New Game Plus. The world evolves as you play, with enemies growing more dangerous and reacting differently, making you revise your strategies.

That’s enhanced in New Game Plus because of all the tools you have in your arsenal.
The game is built to reward returning players and doesn’t expect to find everything in a single run. Think of it as an opportunity to revisit World Quests, bounties, and collectibles you missed. Some story elements might change, too.
Control Resonant launches for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2026.
