Relic Entertainment Hit With Another Round Of Layoffs

It’s been a rough few weeks for Vancouver’s Relic Entertainment.

Last week, their parent company, Sega, announced that it was selling the company as part of larger restructuring efforts in the Sega Europe wing.

Now, the company — which is surviving off funds from an unknown external investor — is confirming that 41 jobs are being cut.

In a post on Linkedin, the studio says, “Letting people go was not an easy decision, and was made solely to provide Relic the best possible chance to survive in an increasingly volatile industry. It does not in any way reflect the expertise, passion, or character of any of the impacted employees.”

This new round of layoffs follows a much larger one back May of last year when Sega laid off or made redundant 121 positions at the company.

Relic is currently in production on a new yet-to-be-seen title.
