Redfall video game releases

Redfall Won’t Have Performance Mode At Launch

Bethesda has confirmed Redfall will have options for either Quality or Performance on Xbox, but don’t expect them both at launch. Instead, when May rolls around, Redfall will only include a Quality mode with a Performance mode arriving after launch.

So for those who are looking to play at 60 FPS next month, you’ll need to play Redfall on PC. As it stands, Xbox Series X will include 4K at 30 FPS, and Xbox Series S will include 1440p at 30 FPS.

I think we’ve come a long way from when the standard was 30 FPS. Judging by the comments and quote tweets, people are clearly not happy Bethesda hasn’t delayed the latest game from Arkane.

Press previews have all been shown at 60 FPS and many assumed that it would launch with this mode. The video below is a perfect example of the general assumption many expected of Redfall.

I can admit I wasn’t on board from what we had seen of Redfall until the previews went up last month. Now that it has been in the hands of the press and the response was positive, I was keen on fitting in Arkane’s next game, despite it launching at the worst possible time. EA’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launches in two weeks and The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom launches in one month.

Shoehorning Redfall in between these two massive titles feels like Bethesda is sending it to die. Reddit and enthusiast forums will quickly forget about it and unless the multiplayer is too good to pass on, it’ll fade into obscurity faster than anything.

Redfall launches on May 2, 2023, for PC and Xbox Series consoles.
