Red Dead Online Doing Well, Leaving Beta Soon

Red Dead Redemption 2 launched it’s online mode, Red Dead Online back in November. Since then, we’ve seen that Take-Two and Rockstar being pleased with how players responded to playing online with others, even if the amount of gold doled out for playing was disappointing to say the least.

Since then, Red Dead Online steadily saw improvement however, fixing issues with griefing, among the more important aspects. In fact, Take-Two mentioned during an earnings call that this mode’s been more successful than GTA Online, during the same time period. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick mentions “Red Dead Online is performing better than Grand Theft Auto Online did at the same stage of the game”.

Which is a surprising statement to say considering how much money GTA Online brings in nearly six years after launching across several platforms. I’m impressed that people are enjoying their time with Red Dead Online. Now things make a bit more sense since it’s looking like we’re going to see a full launch sooner rather than later.

Today’s update to Red Dead Online brings a host of new gameplay including new cooperative story missions, Free Roam activities and the addition of Poker alongside a range of updates and improvements that strengthen and stabilize the foundational world of the Red Dead Online experience.

New missions in the revenge saga of Jessica LeClerk arrive today with “A Land of Opportunities,” as well as new free roam missions featuring characters from Red Dead Redemption 2. Not only that, but Poker is now available at outposts and towns with both private and public games of Hold ‘Em.

A new revolver, new shotgun, new clothing and more available in-game at Wheeler, Rawson and Co.

Plus tons more, including new Offensive and Defensive Playing Styles and significant changes to improve the overall gameplay experience. All players who jump into Red Dead Online this week will get a gift of 15 Gold Bars and see a 25% increase of XP on A Land of Opportunities, Free Roam Missions, Showdown Modes, Races and Free Roam Events. Treasure hunters will also find 25% extra Cash and Gold in chests containing them. All Ultimate Edition owners will also get a gift of RDO$100 and the Throat Slit emote for free.

This summer sees three new roles coming to Red Dead Online – hunt for criminals as a bounty hunter; look for treasure and exotic items as a collector; or build a camp and become a trader. Each role features unique gameplay and outfits, weapons, and rewards.
