Puma Developed Gaming Socks And I Don’t Know Why

Puma feels a bit misguided on this one as the company revealed what they call “Active Gaming Footwear,” for those who want to game but also be active.

In all reality, they look like something to prevent slips and falls at home. And they’re pretty pricey to boot (ha!).

As it were, I don’t know when an old-fashioned pair of socks became inadequate at home but Puma thinks the idea is antiquated. Enter the “Active Gaming Footwear,” which maybe a ninja of Konoha might want to wear but not me.

According to the listing, the socks come in three different modes; another thing I didn’t know my socks even needed.

  • Medial wrap-up grip in SEEK mode
  • Lateral wrap-up support in ATTACK mode
  • Heel wrap-up stability in CRUISE and DEFENSE mode

The socks are meant for indoor and in-arena use, and delivers “seamless comfort, support and grip so gamers can adapt to different active gaming modes and game their best.”

How do they do that you ask – I have zero ideas but I don’t think they’ll make a massive difference while I’m on my couch or chair and my feet are propped up. Quite frankly, at roughly $150 CAD I’ll pass because the absurdity here is unmatched. That said, if Puma wants to prove me wrong and let me see what the magic behind them is, I’ll gladly be a test monkey for them.

What a world we live in.
