PUBG Creator Has Departed Company to Create New Studio

Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene, the man behind the behemoth that is known today as PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, has announced he is leaving Krafton to create new studio PlayerUnknown Productions.

Based out of Amsterdam, Netherlands, the man who put the Battle Royale genre on the map is working on exploring the systems needed to enable massive scale within open-world games. Previously, Greene’s work on crafting maps in DayZ and H1Z1 before turning PUBG Battlegrounds into a cultural phenomenon and inspiring Epic Games to turn Fortnite into the massive moneymaker it is today.

“I’m so very grateful to everyone at PUBG and KRAFTON for taking a chance on me and for the opportunities they afforded me over the past four years,” said Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene. “Today, I’m excited to take the next step on my journey to create the kind of experience I’ve envisaged for years. Again, I’m thankful for everyone at KRAFTON for supporting my plans, and I’ll have more to reveal more about our project at a later date.”
