Just a day after Level-5 seemingly single-handedly levelled up a Nintendo Direct, making several announcements that include the release date for the next instalment in Professor Layton‘s adventures, the company is announcing that his first outing is getting a fresh revitalization.
The titular “Curious Village” is inviting Layton and Luke to come back in 2027’s Professor Layton And The Curious Village Remake.
The remake will feature new 3D character models and a more explorable, immersive 2.5D setting.
Next year will mark 20 years since the game first debuted on Nintendo DS, so it makes sense that we’d go back to the puzzles and streets that started it all.
In Professor Layton And The Curious Village Remake, Professor Layton, a true English gentleman and famous archaeologist, drives to the remote settlement of St. Mystere with his apprentice, Luke, in response to a request from the widow of a wealthy baron. The baron’s will indicates that the family treasure, the Golden Apple, is hidden somewhere within the village; could it have something to do with the Howl’s Moving Castle-like section? Whoever finds it will inherit the whole of the Reinhold Estate.
Professor Layton And The Curious Village Remake will launch for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, Switch and PC via Steam in 2027
