The Crew Motorfest

Preview: The Crew Motorfest

The Crew Motorfest is Ubisoft's next racing game title due this year

Last week, Ubisoft invited the media to preview The Crew: Motorfest, including a hands-on demo.

Start your engines

The Crew is an action-driving game franchise developed by Ubisoft. In the first title of the series, you drove into the heart of the United States, entirely reconstituted in an open world.

In The Crew Motorfest, the festival moves to a breathtaking location: Hawaii. You will therefore ride in the heart of the archipelago on the main island of O’ahu, where you can ride in the streets of Honolulu, approach an erupting volcano, go trail running in the rain forest or drive around on the beach.

In The Crew Motorfest, you will have access to a variety of cars from the past, present and future and also benefit from a partnership between Ubisoft and Lamborghini to offer you not only the Lamborghini Revuelto but also special events related to these cars.

Of course, Ubisoft Ivory has also thought of The Crew 2 players who don’t want to lose their vehicles: you can import them into The Crew Motorfest.

Split Second Momentum

I was able to play The Crew Motorfest for 30 minutes, and, in all honesty, it was a crazy moment as I had the chance to test all the current main game modes, including street racing, off-road racing, using retro vehicles and even Formula 1 type vehicles.

I asked Ubisoft about how driving on different terrain affects your car, and they let me know that they’ve worked hard to deliver a game where controls are affected by terrain, vehicle type, inertial force and more!

I loved riding the neon-coloured streets in the middle of the night. Driving felt like driving in the streets of Tokyo in the middle of Honolulu.

The opposing vehicles offered good challenges throughout the race, and the slightest mistake could be enormously punishing. You will therefore need to arm yourself with patience and drive intensely but with finesse and precision!

Visually, the game is sublime and, honestly, what a fantastic soundtrack! It brings you into the game and increases your adrenaline level. Once again, fully customizable vehicles are superb, and being in Hawaii does not take away from the immensity of the playground that will be found under your wheels.

The Crew Motorfest has improved several mechanics from its predecessors

Sadly, I can’t say much more since 30 minutes is relatively short when you are behind the wheel, but one thing’s for sure: The Crew Motorfest is shaping up to be the best of the series.

The Crew Motorfest will be available from September 14, and pre-orders start today, giving you the Toyota GR Supra 2021 LBWK Edition and the ability to play up to three days before the official launch with the purchase of the Gold Edition or Ultimate.
