Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have broken a sales record for both the series and the Nintendo Switch. In just three days, the ninth generation has sold a stunning 10 million copies across the globe. “This is the highest global sales level for any software on any Nintendo platform within the first three days,” the press release says.
The number comes from an official press release out of Nintendo of Japan. This is the most any game on a Nintendo platform has ever sold and easily the most a Pokémon game has sold. To put it into perspective, the last mainline games Pokémon Sword and Shield sold two million copies in the same timeframe before going on to sell 25 million copies.
This comes after both Scarlet and Violet launched mired with bugs and performance issues. However, Luke says there is a good game to be found under the issues and that Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are the best games in years.
