Earlier this week, Nintendo announced a new episode of Pokémon Presents with the focus being entirely centred on showcasing the upcoming Nintendo Switch games Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.
Kicking off at 6:00 AM ET/9:00 AM ET, the live stream was the longest one yet lasting just under 30 minutes. Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet are coming to Nintendo Switch on November 18.
Kicking off the presentation was Chris Brown, the Pokémon Company International Director of Global eSports and Events. Brown confirmed the annual Pokémon World Championships 2022 will resume in London from August 18 to August 21. Thousands of players from around the world will be in attendance and this year will see Pokémon GO and Pokémon Unite joining the Championships.
Next, we saw, that Pokémon GO Fest 2022 was given the spotlight. Ultra Beasts are in and the daily adventure incense has been added for 15 minutes a day.
From there, Pokémon Unite is celebrating its first anniversary with a new event called Pika Party set to begin today. The event puts all players on the battlefield as Pikachu and is a limited event it ends on September 1, 2022. Furthermore, Buzzwole is joining the roster with six more Pokémon joining the roster.
A surprise appearance of Pokémon Masters EX was shown to celebrate the third-year anniversary. It is confirmed that the trainer lodge will be a massive content update and it is coming soon.
Pokémon Cafe Mix will see Mewtwo join. Latias is joining later today with Latios joining later this year. Additionally, a one-minute cooking mode is coming as well.
Lastly, we get a new look at this year’s new duology of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. Set in the new region of Paldea, we’ll also visit the major city of Mesagoza. For the first time ever, we’ll get a pair of professors instead of one. Furthermore, the recently revealed pair of legendaries, Koraidon and Miraidon, are rideable motorcycles. Yes, you read that right – the newest legendaries can be used to traverse the open world.
Additionally, we get a look at the new Treasure Hunt feature that will weave throughout the narrative.
Lastly, we get a look at the next gimmick players will use with their partner’s new special forms called Terastallizing.
Terastal Pokémon are basically Scarlet and Violet’s version of Gigantamax from Sword and Shield. The biggest difference is that your Pokémon turns into a gem rather than grow big and allows your partner to shine and glimmer like a gem.
All Pokémon in Paldea can Terastallize to gain special powers, and Terastallization allows players to enhance their battle strategies by increasing the power of any moves that have the same type as their Pokémon’s Tera Type. There are 18 types, meaning there are countless combinations of Pokémon and Tera Types.
Furthermore, Tera Raid Battles will allow you and three other players to team up and take on Terastallized wild Pokémon.
We also meet some of the new Pokémon including Fidough, Paldean Wooper, and Cetitan.
