Per Nintendo, the publisher revealed the first game in the Mystery Dungeon sub-series, which launched on Game Boy Advance, will be added on August 9, 2024
Waking up in a new world as a Pokémon, you discover you can speak and interact with other Pokémon. As you head out on an adventure, you recruit various partners and lead rescue missions worldwide together. At the start of your adventure, you’re given a personality test, which is used to choose the Pokémon you’ll embody.
Spike Chunsoft developed the series, which delivered many familiar elements in a new way back in 2005 when Red Rescue Team launched.
Players explore randomly generated dungeons filled with wild Pokémon, traps, and items. Movement and actions are turn-based, meaning every step or move the player makes allows other Pokémon in the dungeon to act. Dungeons have multiple floors, with an objective usually located on the final floor. The layout changes with each visit, providing a unique experience every time.
Red Rescue Team has a Switch remake in the form of Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, which launched in 2020. In my review, I said, “Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX is a decent remake, but not a necessary one.”
