The Pokémon Company is celebrating over 1000 Pokémon, more specifically, celebrating 1008 monsters.
So who was the 1000th Pokémon? Well, it certainly is an interesting one as Gholdengo has been confirmed to bring the tally to 1000. It is an evolution of either Chest Form Gimmighoul or Roaming Form Gimmighoul in the Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.
Gholdengo evolves when the player collects 999 Gimmighoul Coins, which can be found throughout Paldea.
“Twenty-six years after the release of the original Pokemon games—Pokemon Red Version and Pokemon Green Version in Japan—the number of Pokemon discovered has finally surpassed one thousand! Let’s celebrate the occasion with a look back at some of your favorite Pokemon!” says the video description above.
Alongside the 1000th Pokémon reveal, Game Freak confirmed a new Pokémon Scarlet and Violet update is coming in February. Version 1.2.0 will include bug fixes and add functionality. The confirmation was rather vague so we’ll wait to report more as news becomes available.
