PlayStation President and CEO Jim Ryan appeared on the PlayStation Blog today to reveal that the Play at Home initiative is set to return this March. Last year both Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection (Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception) and Journey were available to download and to keep.
This year, with the pandemic still happening around the planet, PlayStation’s once again free games as a way to give back to the community (and to stay socially distanced from each other).
On March 1, 2021, PlayStation and Insomniac Games are offering Ratchet & Clank 2016 for free for a limited time through the PlayStation Store. You’ll have the entire month to redeem the game before it is no longer available on March 31, 2021. Once you redeem the game, it will be yours to keep.
On March 25, 2021, Sony is teaming up Funimation (a joint venture of Sony Pictures Entertainment and Aniplex of Japan) and offering what is being described as extended access for new subscribers to Funimation or Wakanim. Funimation is an anime-focused subscription service and Wakanim is Funimation’s European division.
Ryan also mentioned that this is the start of the initiative and there will be more in store as Play At Home kicks off next week. PlayStation will share more details on free games and entertainment throughout the month right into the end of June.
