It feels like forever since we’ve heard anything from Sony about the games coming to PlayStation 5 and the future of the brand. However, next Thursday, we’ll get a live broadcast with a brand new look at what’s coming to the platform as a new PlayStation Showcase is set to happen.
Sony is hosting a 40-minute PlayStation Showcase on September 9. Beginning at 1 PM PDT/4 PM EDT, the showcase will feature “a look into the future of PS5” and “updates from PlayStation Studios” for the slate of games coming this year into next. The stream will be available on both YouTube and Twitch.

“You’ve been awfully patient, and we thank you for that. And now we’re looking forward to showing you what we’ve been working on,” says Sid Shuman on the PlayStation Blog.
We’ll get a look at some of the industry’s most creative forces, both first and third-party features next week but Sony has tempered expectations and confirmed PS VR 2 won’t be shown during the stream. With the recent delay of Horizon Forbidden West, it seems likely we’ll see some footage and perhaps even an update on the untitled God of War sequel. Normally, Sony provides a heads up on what games are shown at these events but there was no mention of any one developer so it seems like anyone could appear.
