PlayStation 5 Adds Community Game Help

The PlayStation 5 will receive Community Game Help, which Sony initially introduced when the console launched in 2020. Game Help allows users to access in-game tips, walkthroughs, and hints for their games.

Now, with help from the community, your favourite games will have helpful hints added by the community via user gameplay footage. You can opt to contribute.

Game Help will be available to all players, even those who do not have an active PlayStation Plus subscription. In supported games, you can contribute gameplay and view hints from other people and developers in games like The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.

Community Game Help works essentially the same as Game Help. On your PlayStation 5, press the PS button to open the Control Centre and then look for the Action Csrd with the “Hints Inside” icon.

Currently, supported games provide hints that are generated by the developers. However, in the future, you will also see hints labelled as Community Game Help. These hints will be generated from other players’ gameplay footage. You will have the option to rate the usefulness of these hints, which will help us curate informative help content for players.

In addition to the developer-generated hints currently provided in supported games, you will eventually start to see hints labelled “Community Game Help,” which indicates that the clip was generated from other players’ gameplay footage. You can also rate the usefulness of these hints, which will allow us to curate informative help content for players.

In the coming months, you can begin creating hints and tips.

To do so:

  • Go to [Captures & Broadcasts] >[Captures] > [Auto Captures] > [Community Game Help], then select [Participate] to opt in to the program.
  • You can also select the monthly capture limit to control how many videos you will allow to be captured from your gameplay per month.

When you turn on the appropriate settings on your PS5, the console will automatically capture a video when you complete a specific activity while playing a game. This video will then be reviewed by a moderator, and if it meets the necessary criteria, it will be published as a Game Help hint for other PlayStation players to view, learn from, and rate. Once your video is uploaded to our servers, it will be removed from your PS5 console, ensuring that it does not take up any storage space.

The submission process will be completely automated, which means you won’t have to manually edit or upload your video clips. Only your raw game footage will be uploaded, so none of your webcam, microphone, or party chat audio or images will be shared with the community or moderator. Depending on the game you’re playing, your video may contain online IDs or chat messages that are displayed on your game screen.

Sony says that Community Game Help will roll out to select titles later this year with support to “as many titles as possible in the future.”
