The formerly known Koch Media publisher, Plaion is reportedly planning to merge its three publishing labels – Deep Silver, Prime Matter and Ravenscourt together and will be under its own label, known simply as Plaion, according to an internal presentation slide acquired by GameIndustry.Biz. The company’s other brands, Milestone and Vertigo Games were not mentioned.
The goal of the company restructuring is to “simplify our publishing operations” with sources saying that Plaion is aiming to produce fewer games at a higher quality with the merger. With any restructuring jobs will be affected in some way as layoffs are expected but GameIndustry’s reporting states that five or six jobs overall will be affected.
It’s not like at the snap of their fingers all the publishing labels will be merged, it’s sounding like this will be a slower process that will take up to 12 months to finalize. Even then the visual change won’t be known for quite some time as titles published by Deep Silver, Prime Matter, and Ravenscourt labels will still be present “over the next couple of years.”
Afterward, the label will be built upon four pillars of business – Games Portfolio and Business, Publishing Services, Global Sales & Marketing, and Distribution Partnership.
