Phil Spencer Acknowledges FTC Court Leak, Promises Xbox Plans Have Changed

Late last night, early this morning, documents about the FTC court case against Microsoft and Xbox were erroneously uploaded. This led to several plans Microsoft had in place and were set to reveal in 2024 to be revealed prematurely, including the disc-free Xbox Series X redesign, a new console in 2028, the new Sebille controller, and more games from Bethesda.

“We’ve seen the conversation around old emails and documents. It is hard to see our team’s work shared in this way because so much has changed and there’s so much to be excited about right now, and in the future. We will share the real plans when we are ready,’ says Phil Spencer.

The tweet from Spencer is the first official communication from Microsoft regarding the leak uploaded to the FTC website. An internal memo from Spencer went out at Microsoft earlier today, which The Verge could see, indicating that the leak was “unintentionally disclosed.”

Spencer reiterates that the plans that were leaked have since changed and that there is a ton to look forward to in the future at Xbox.
