When Persona 4 Revival was revealed, many fans wondered what would happen to the existing voice cast, which includes Johnny Yong Bosch, Yuri Lowenthal, Erin Fitzgerald, Amanda Winn Lee, and Troy Baker.
The previous game, Persona 3 Reload, recast the entire cast with entirely new voices, all of whom did an excellent job. And when Persona 4 Revival came around, the question was whether the original cast was returning or a whole new cast was coming up. As it turns out, the old guard wasn’t returning, and some of the original actors weren’t even asked about it.
Since, I've had several people ask me: No, I wasn't asked to voice Yukiko in the P4 remake

In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Kazuhisa Wada, Persona 4 Revival’s director, spoke on the topic, saying that it was difficult to get everyone back together for the remake. “The original game was originally recorded for the English cast, specifically, a long, long time ago,” Wada tells GamesRadar+ at Gamescom 2026, via translator. Wada says some of the original actors no longer work in the industry, while others are now too popular to get for the project due to scheduling, and it was “really hard to lock down” schedules.
Lowenthal, who has since gone on to star in Marvel’s Spider-Man, voiced Yosuka Hanamura in the original. Troy Baker played Kanji Tatsumi before Matthew Mercer took over the role, and Tracey Rooney voiced Chie before Erin Fitzgerald took over the role. Even Laura Bailey, who’s since blown up in the industry, was a crucial part of the game, but as some of these actors have gotten bigger, one can assume that they now cost much more to call them back for work.
For those asking, I have not been asked to reprise my role as Chie Satonaka in the Persona 4 remake.RIP 😭😭😭😭😭😭I am blessed to have recorded as many Persona 4 games as I did playing her.

“So we realized we can’t re-gather that whole cast,” Wada tells GameRadar+. “So we’re like, ‘OK, I guess we have to kind of once again roll up our sleeves. Alright, let’s start over. Let’s get a whole new cast in and let’s do our best.'”
In one case, Amanda Win Lee passed the baton to incoming Yukiko actor Brianna Knickerbocker, showing some support for the actress.
Earlier this year, incoming actor for Yu said “My cast and I stand on the shoulders of giants,” says Nazeeh Tarsha, assuming the protagonist role from Johnny Yong Bosch. “We all grew up on monumental and iconic performances and the amount of respect we have toward our predecessors cannot be overstated. Truthfully, I know that this news comes to the chagrin of many, and I would be lying if I said I haven’t been nervous about this reveal. I want to make it clear that I see myself solely as an iteration. Johnny will forever be my and many people’s GOAT and I can only hope to aspire to his greatness. I did my best to do right by both him as well as the fandom.”
Ultimately, Wada says it didn’t make sense to use some of the old cast and some new cast members, so they decided to start over. I’m pretty confident we’ll see an excellent dub next year, as I really enjoyed what Atlus did with Persona 3 Reload (despite not including the female main character).
Persona 4 Revival launches on February 18, 2027, for Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC.
