Overwatch 2 Is Making Its Way to Steam On August 10, More Blizzard Games Coming To Valve’s PC Storefront

Which will be Revealed "when the time is right"

Blizzard has announced in a blog post that Overwatch 2 is coming on Steam on August 10th, the news is part of the publisher’s newest initiative to bring more of its library of games to Valve’s PC platform which the Overwatch sequel is officially kicking off in the first half of next month.

In response to the news, Blizzard President Mike Ybarra confirmed to a fan that Overwatch 2 will run directly through Steam so no need for Blizzard’s launcher but players are advised to connect their Battle.net account to their Steam account. The PC version of Overwatch 2 on Steam is set to add  Steam achievements and friends lists, plus you’ll be able to invite friends to play in-game.

“Battle.net is the home of all our PC players, and over the years, we’ve evolved our platform to support updated technologies, capabilities, and our communities’ expectations. But as we’ve evolved, the industry has evolved too—gaming is no longer just for specific communities as it was when Battle.net launched over two decades ago, gaming is for everyone—and though we remain committed to continually investing in and supporting Battle.net, we want to break down the barriers to make it easier for players everywhere to find and enjoy our games,” Blizzard Entertainment wrote in a blog post.

While no announcement of what other Blizzard games are coming to Steam or when to expect them, the Overwatch 2 developer only teased that it would share more about its next Steam releases “when the time is right.” Speaking of timing, August 10th isn’t a random date for Overwatch 2 to make its Steam debut as it’s a very strategic day on Blizzard’s part as that’s the same day that the game’s Invasion season begins which is set to introduce new story missions, an all-new PVP core game mode, a new support hero, and much more.

Overwatch 2 is currently available on PC (Battle.net), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and is set to release on Steam in the coming weeks.
