Open World StarCraft Announced For 2030

Revealed today at BlizzCon, Blizzard Entertainment is working on an open-world StarCraft game set to arrive in 2030.

Very little is known about the project, but there is a short story blurb that doesn’t really provide any information:

The sons and daughters of the dominion answered the call.

When mankind needed them most. their courage held the line.

Their sacrifice bought us another day.

Now the call comes to you.

Carry their strength forward.

No matter the cost.

Blizzard hasn’t shown anything outside of the teaser, but it’s curious why the studio is pivoting to an open-world shooter when the series has been known as a real-time strategy series since its inception. The series hasn’t seen any new entries since StarCraft 2 launched in 2011.

The official StarCraft website has been glitching and serving teasers for fans to mull over what secrets are left unresolved.

No platforms were announced.
