The excellent Octopath Traveler is coming to PC on June 7, one month shy of being a Nintendo Switch exclusive. Square Enix confirmed the news today after recent leaks from the Korean rating board revealed the transition to PC. It will feature English and Japanese audio, and English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese text options.
If that isn’t enough to get your excitement revved up, a prequel is also in the works for smartphones called Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.
When I reviewed Octopath Traveler last year, I was big into the characters but not a fan of how their stories didn’t intertwine into an overarching story, leaving me wishing for more than what we got. The battle system improved on the fundamentals found in Bravely Default and offered a proper challenge to those seeking one. That and the soundtrack made everything better. Really.
