After what feels like forever, the next update for the ever-evolving No Man’s Sky is out in a few short weeks.
By now, many know the story of the rocky launch the OG No Man’s Sky received, with many citing the lack of feature and graphics of the numerous demos shown off beforehand. Mixed reviews didn’t help either, but thanks to the excellent effort put forward by Hello Studios, over the last few years we’ve seen a mighty turnover and a completely new game emerge.
Sean Murray, the co-founder of the studio, revealed that the newest update features three “major updates rolled into one larger free release.” The first being a new multiplayer mode: No Man’s Sky Online.
No Man’s Sky Online includes a radical new social and multiplayer experience which empowers players everywhere in the universe to meet and play together. Whilst this brings people together like never before, Murray doesn’t consider it to be an MMO while having similar elements. The second major update is VR support for No Man’s Sky. You’ll be able to use your existing save files and explore the world in a first-person mode that allows you to walk around you bases, fly your ship and more.
There’s one piece of we still do not know about but I’m sure we’ll figure out what the third major update envisions.
No Man’s Sky Beyond is out on August 14.
