The previous beta did a solid job hyping me up for the sequel to 2017’s Nioh, which brought Team Ninja back after a wave of mediocre titles before it. I didn’t expect a ton of changes in a sequel, but after the beta, I’m happy with the changes being made and new gameplay elements being added.

In particular, I enjoy the new Yokai transformations, which add a new layer to the game, and with no actual Souls game on the horizon, this is a title that should scratch that itch. As it were, Koei Tecmo revealed an open beta is set for November and but I’m not sure if it is the same demo we had last time or an entirely new slice of the game. Either way, I’m excited to jump back into the demonic world of Nioh, it’s got a ton of personality, even with so much darkness within the world.
Basically, if you liked the first, then the second is right up your alley. If you missed out on the first game, then you should check out the sequel which is a standalone title.
Nioh 2 Open Beta starts on November 1 and goes until November 10.
