Nintendo Switch Hardware Sales At 139.36 Million Units, Now Less Than 15 Million Away From Nintendo DS

We got some new hardware sales numbers on the Nintendo Switch as Nintendo has shared its recently released earnings that its hybrid consoles have sold 6.9 million units during the quarter, bringing the total hardware sales officially to 139.36 million units as of December 31st, according to Nintendo’s latest earnings report.

This is another huge milestone for the Nintendo Switch as the device is closely approaching the 140 million mark as far as official numbers go. The total sales are listed among all the other Nintendo consoles and handhelds that the Japanese company has launched over the decades, with the Nintendo Switch having surpassed each one, with the lone exception being the Nintendo DS at 154.02 million units. Looking at the updated numbers, for Nintendo’s latest platform, that hill is looking less impossible to climb up as the Nintendo Switch is less than 15 million away; 2024 could be the year the Nintendo Switch surpasses that number.

Alongside the hardware sale update, Nintendo also announced it had sold a total of more than 1.2 billion units of software since the Nintendo Switch launched back in 2017. Additionally, Nintendo has updated the sales numbers of its top 10 first-party titles, which are listed below:

  1. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – 60.58 million
